Read Me Well

Service

More about this Activity / Service

Service Description:
‘Read Me Well’ offers self-help to parents and carers of two year olds to teenagers with a range of emotional health needs. The collection of 35 books covers issues including anger, shyness, death, illness, divorce and bullying. Professionals will be able to refer children onto the scheme by issuing a book list with recommended reading for the child’s particular need/s that is relevant to their age.

Many of the books in the collection are picture books and look appealing to children.

The aim of the scheme is to equip families to help themselves and their children in coping with difficult situations and the books are intended to be read to and with younger children, to encourage discussion of the subject. Older children can also be read to, or read alone, whichever they prefer.

The following emotional health and well-being issues are covered by the books: ADHD, adoption, anger, depression, diabetes and divorce.

Please note: The books will be held in collections in:

- Chelmsley Wood Library
- Hobs Moat Library
- The Core Library (central Solihull)
- Shirley Library
